Pittsboro Matters evolved when a group of Pittsboro residents feared that the Master Plan proposed by Chatham Park LLC would be approved without the support of Pittsboro citizens in August 2013. Or, for that matter, without the knowledge of Pittsboro citizens, the large majority of whom did not even know about it. These initial residents got together to talk about some of the biggest issues with the proposal – what was missing and what would cause huge problems within our community. And they started attending and speaking at all of the town Board of Commissioners meetings and Chatham Park meetings open to the public, asking them to please slow down and involve the citizens in this process.
Since then, Pittsboro Matters has grown. We have evolved into a 501(c)(3) Non Profit Corporporation organized for charitable purposes to assist peoples living in Chatham County and the Town of Pittsboro, North Carolina in the preservation of the local economy, environment and culture of their community.
We have nearly 600 supporters and are always looking for Pittsboro Matters volunteers. If you wish to volunteer, please join us!
